For me, the iPad Mini is one of those devices that I know I should like, but I never get around to appreciating. Apple must feel the same way, as it updates its smallest tablet so rarely that it knows its target market probably doesn’t need the fastest speeds.
But, with the arrival of Apple Intelligence, Apple has launched the seventh-generation Mini. Naturally, we handed our review unit over to tablet expert Nathan Ingraham for his opinion. Is the iPad Mini 7 worth the price?
On paper, Apple didn’t do much other than include the A17 Pro, a chip capable of running the company’s new AI bells and whistles.
But Nathan found that a lot of the pain points of the old Mini – including the dreaded jelly scrolling – have been taken out of the picture.
You also get support for the Apple Pencil Pro, which is helpful in streamlining the company’s currently cluttered stylus lineup. Ironically, it wasn’t either of these features that drove me to buy this device, but rather that it seemed like the perfect device for an iPad Mini Balatro. Online junk stores offering lucrative discounts on poorly made goods shipped straight from China are nothing new on the internet. After all, it was only a few years ago that everyone in the US was worried about the threat posed by Wish to traditional retailers. Keep that in mind when you learn that Amazon, spooked by Temu’s success, is considering its own low-cost online retailer.
Huawei appears to still use TSMC chips despite US sanctions
Despite being mired in sanctions, Huawei may still be using chips made by TSMC for some of its products.
A series of blockbuster reports suggest that the Ascend 910B chip in the new AI accelerator was made by the Taiwanese chip giant. Right now we only have a lot of denials and people pointing fingers, but this story is going to last for a while until we know what happened.
NASA has shown off a prototype telescope that could detect gravitational waves to help better understand the building blocks of the universe. The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) is expected to be launched in the mid-2030s, with three linked satellites orbiting Earth.
The three will track each other’s exact location, and monitor when gravitational waves deviate from their expected pattern. If successful, it could yield useful information about black holes and the Big Bang, which are difficult to study by other means.
